The world of Le Moulin de Ponceau
Le Moulin de Ponceau is nestled in a delightful 17th-century house, peacefully set on the banks of the River Eure. Originally two mills, used to make flour until the 19th century, the two buildings were subsequently combined to form one.
The resulting building was transformed into a dance bar in the 1980s, before becoming a restaurant in the decade that followed. This place, steeped in history, immediately appealed to Stéphane, Mickaël and Franck, who in 2019 decided as a family to breathe new life into this Chartres institution.
The restaurant's riverside location is a privileged setting in Chartres and one that only Le Moulin de Ponceau enjoys.
In fine weather, our guests can savour lunch and dinner on the terrace in a rustic and picturesque location, right in the heart of the city. Expansive views of Notre-Dame cathedral, the collegiate church of Saint-André and the river can also be enjoyed from inside our restaurant, thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows.
Across the three floors, the charm of the period stonework and the character of the exposed beams create a warm and cosy ambiance, which is exquisitely enhanced by the elegant, contemporary décor.

From the main dining room to the lounges on the upper floors, guests can enjoy a convivial dining experience centred on delicious cuisine that is both uncomplicated and affordable.
With the aim of attracting both local residents as well as visitors passing through, we are careful to maintain the soul of the establishment, both in the décor and in the food.
Our cuisine offers pride of place to regional savoir-faire and local, seasonal produce, reflecting our commitment to high-quality ingredients and short supply chains. Le Moulin de Ponceau cares deeply about the planet and is equally attentive to the wellbeing of its staff. Since 2023, this holistic approach has been recognised with 3 Écotable awards and the prestigious French title of Maître Restaurateur.
Our restaurant was listed in the Michelin and Gault & Millau Guides in 2022.
